April 21, 2021: Writing and Publishing Children’s Books for a Niche Audience

What: Editors BC monthly meeting
When: Wednesday, April 21, 2021, 7:30 to 8:30 pm
Where: Online through Zoom
Cost: Free for Editors Canada members, $5 non-members and students

Elspeth Rae and Rowena Rae are sisters who believe in a world where all children learn to read with confidence and have the chance to discover the pleasure of being lost in a good book.

Yet for many kids, learning to read isn’t easy. Elspeth and Rowena, authors of the Meg and Greg series, will share their experiences developing and writing books for children with language-learning differences. Elspeth, a literacy teacher, will describe some of the quirks of English that can make reading and spelling a struggle, and Rowena, a children’s non-fiction author and freelance editor, will detail their journey from self-publishing to publishing their series with Orca Book Publishers. Join us to hear about language, spelling, and writing from a perspective that many readers and editors never encounter.

Following the presentation, Editors BC welcomes you to stay awhile and visit. You’ll have the opportunity to chat in small groups about the presentation, get to know one another, and make online connections. We hope to see you there from 8:30 to 9:00 pm!
