Dear Editors BC members,
Last year’s Blue Pencil event was popular with both writers and editors, so Editors BC and the Vancouver Public Library are again offering the public a series of free editing consultations. The event offers mainstream exposure for Editors BC, and it’s a great opportunity for editors to connect with potential clients.
Sessions will be held at all three of the following branches on March 17, April 21, and May 19:
- Central: 5:30–6:00 / 6:15–6:45 / 7:00–7:30
- Kitsilano: 5:30–6:00 / 6:15–6:45 / 7:00–7:30
- South Hill: 6:00–6:30 / 6:45–7:15 / 7:30–8:00
Registrants will send a one-page summary of their book or project, along with the first chapter, at least a week before their scheduled consultation. The volunteer editor will review the material and provide one to two pages of written feedback in bullet-point form, to be discussed during the 30-minute session. Any actual editing of the submission is at the editor’s discretion, but is not a requirement.
If you’re interested in participating, please email Roma Ilnyckyj at bcchair@editors.ca. In your email, please state which branch(es) you’re available to volunteer at, how many half-hour sessions you’re able to do, and which dates and times work for you.
Many thanks,
