Whether you’re called managing editor, production editor, editorial coordinator, publications director, project manager, editor-in-chief, or any number of titles, you do any or all of the following:
- Work in-house for an organization that creates publications
- Manage an editorial and production team of in-house staff and freelancers
- Hire freelancers, including editors, writers, designers, and indexers
- Develop project schedules
- Create or work to project budgets
- Shepherd projects through the production process
Publishers often meet to discuss sales, marketing, and digital strategies, but rarely do the people who actually make the publications happen get together and brain-share. This special PD event is a series of short seminars, offering managing editors and production specialists the opportunity to meet others in similar roles and learn from one another.
Whether you’re interested in how others approach freelancer recruitment, training, and scheduling, or have a success story to share about streamlining workflow or project management, PubPro is the place to air your production-related questions and triumphs.
Work in-house but aren’t a managing editor? Tell your colleagues about this event! Many managing editors and production specialists aren’t EAC members, and we’d like your help reaching out to them.
Work as a freelance editor? Spread the word! If your clients regularly hire freelancers, they may benefit from this unconference. And consider joining us for the Networking Tea only, in the afternoon. Registration for this special session opens April 2, 2015. Visit PubPro 2015 for more details. Note: registration for the PubPro unconference includes the Networking Tea.
