Cheryl Hannah couldn’t believe her eyes when she first noticed this sign in her local Starbucks. A comma splice? In (expensive) Starbucks signage? She had to restrain herself from making a sign of her own, warning of the evils of the comma splice.

I know it’s wrong but marketers can take license with language. I think it works better the way they have it!

I know, Tina–but I couldn’t help myself from acting like an 18th-century schoolmarm, aquiver with schadenfreude-like glee at the merest hint of a grammatical liberty. It’s all quite sad; I may need to sign up for a 12-step program for editorial excess!
